Exclusive: Foster Excited Ahead Of Clash With Guardiola’s Man City

Bafana Bafana international, Lyle Foster, is hoping that Burnley can spring a surprise against a Manchester City side that he calls ‘one of the best teams in the world’.

The 22-year-old South African got off the mark for the Clarets this month as he played his part in their 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic, and having already featured in three FA Cup ties this season he’ll be desperate to get a chance at the Etihad Stadium later this evening.

It’ll be a tough test as Vincent Kompany goes up against a team that he knows incredibly well, but Foster thinks that they do have what it takes to cause a bit of an upset in Manchester against Pep Guardiola’s outfit.

“It’s exciting for us as players, but for the manager as well,” the young forward told iDiski Times.

“It’s a nice test against one of the best teams in the world… We’ll bring our football, and hopefully we can grind a result out.

“I’m confident with the team we have and our quality that we can bring something – hopefully it’s a good game.”

He also believes that it’s a good opportunity to begin preparations for next season if, as is largely expected, they secure promotion out of the Championship and back into the Premier League – though he’s not getting carried away.

“With me being new in England, playing against big teams like Manchester City will be lovely [because] it gives me a chance to see what the top league is all about,” he added.

“Before we can start thinking about the Premier League we first need to finish off the job this season, but if we do get there then it’d be great playing against teams like that week in and week out.”

The two sides lock horns at 19:45 South African time on Saturday, and fans across the country will be hoping to see the forward get an opportunity before he heads home on international duty.
