Result: Mamelodi Sundowns 4-0 Kaizer Chiefs

Date: 13 August 2022

Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium

The Soweto giants had to start without Ashley du Preez and Lehlogonolo Matlou as Arthur Zwane recalled Cole Alexander and Njabulo Blom after the win over Maritzburg United.
Sundowns handed stars Andile Jali and Gaston Sirin after the surprise loss to TS Galaxy, while Haashim Domingo and Thabiso Kutumela dropped to the bench. While Bongani Zungu was revealed to the fans before the match started.
Sirino reaffirmed his call after six minutes when the South American latched on to Siyabonga Ngezan’s brilliant back pass and slotted the ball past Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvumu.
The poor start for Ngezan and Chiefs continued when Sundowns were awarded a penalty in the 15th minute for a foul on defender Peter Shalulile, who calmly slotted home to double the lead.
Once on the ball, the Chiefs had to wait until the 31st minute for a clear sight on goal when Alexander fired into the side netting in the 31st minute and Yusuf Maart fired just wide of the bar five minutes later in the box.
Sundowns, meanwhile, struggled to carve out chances after taking the lead in the early stages as Zwan’s men controlled the center of the park where Maart saw plenty of the ball.
