Mdaka Cautious About CAFCC & Worries About League Woes
Marumo Gallants interim coach Raymond Mdaka says being on top of Group A in the CAF Confederations Cup, shouldn’t go to his players’ heads while also admitting worries of Gallants’ form in the domestic league.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa overcame Algerian side USM Alger 2-0 in Soweto in midweek, to rack up nine points in four matches increasing their chances of going into the knockout stage.
However back at home they are bottom of the DStv Premiership log with 19 points from 22 games. Mdaka is aware of what both logs look like and remains cautious as far the continental competition is concerned but hopes their run inspires them in their relegation fight in the league.
“That’s what we are believing, to say if a team is losing, it also loses confidence but the more you win games that’s the more we gain confidence,” said Mdaka.
“And we are forced to play that way when we play in the continental competitions and when we come back home we will impose more or less the very same way of doing things.
“You see once the confidence level of the players drop, it becomes very easy but with the kind of plays that we are doing right now, under difficult circumstances we are able to play, we are able to come back with a result.
“We played here and got a result. I think it is motivation on its own to the boys and makes us believe that with the team we can be able to survive domestically.”
Gallants are away at Cape Town City in their next league game on 14 March.
