Mokotjo, Vila Gives Brakkies Something To Smile About

Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter could not hide his delight as Kamohelo Mokotjo and Sibusiso Vilakazi look set to play a crucial role for the rest of the season.

Mokotjo started in the 2-0 win over Cape Town Spurs and produced a tidy midfield display as Victor Letsoalo and Roderick Kabwe’s penalty secured their place in the quarter-final of the Nedbank Cup.

Vilakazi, who signed for the club last month after terminating his contract with TS Galaxy also made his debut.

“The two goals are massive for me, considering all the chances we created in previous games, missed, and lost,” Truter said after the win at the Peter Mokaba Stadium

“We got two goals, I’m happy about that, I’m happy about moving on to the next round, it’s all that counts, performance or not.

“Kamo got close to 90 minutes, Vila got his debut, two goals, a clean sheet, well done, on to the next round.”

It’s easy to forget that as early as 2019, the midfield duo formed integral roles in the Bafana Bafana squad at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations – and Brakkies has waxed lyrical about the technical quality they bring Babina Noko.

Sekhukhune joins Mamelodi Sundowns and Dondol Stars as the first three sides to book their place in the last eight of the domestic cup competition.
