Sundowns Investigate Employee

Mamelodi Sundowns have announced that they will investigate the conduct of employee Khaled Ali.

The Sundowns’ Team Travel Logistics & Liaison Officer was recalled from a trip to Sudan in preparation for their CAF Champions League over comments on social media.

“It has come to the attention of Mamelodi Sundowns that certain remarks that its employee Khaled Ali, may have made during a social media discussion relating to Al Ahly and Al Hilal may be contrary to the ethics, governance and rules of Mamelodi Sundowns,” the club said via a statement.

“Mamelodi Sundowns views these alleged remarks and conduct in a very serious light and is launching an immediate investigation to get exposed to the true facts.

“Khaled has been instructed to return from Sudan and report at the Sundowns offices at Chloorkop and make himself available for the investigation.

“Sundowns will provide further information on this matter once the findings of the investigation are concluded.”

The club didn’t give any further details but the statement could relate to Ali offering to provide Al Ahly fans analysis data about Al Hilal ahead of their final CAFCL group match on a twitter space.

Sundowns have already qualified for the knockout stages of the CAF Champions and Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller had stated that he hopes they “will be fair and ethical” in their remaining two group matches.

Meanwhile, record champions Al Ahly rely on Sundowns to beat Al Hilal if they want to keep their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages alive. They also need to beat Coton Sport themselves to setup an exciting final home game against Al Hilal.
